Assistant Coach
Matthew Weller
.
Coach Weller is entering his first season coaching at East Coweta and his first season coaching overall. Coach Weller enters coaching after four years umpiring for GHSA, where he saw the East Coweta pride and tradition firsthand. Coach Weller graduated from Whitewater High School in 2018 and graduated from Clayton State University with a Bachelor's in History Education. He is looking into pursuing his Master's in the near future. He teaches 7th grade Social Studies at East Coweta Middle School.
Coach Weller works primarily with the 9th grade team, but will help out with every program in some capacity. His previous baseball experience includes four years as a student manager at Whitewater High (with 3 at-bats as a senior).
Coach Weller has grown up in a baseball family. His dad, Jody, has been coaching or umpiring since 1990, and is still umpiring GHSA baseball. He has called two state finals in the last four years. His mom, Julie, was right in the middle of everything as the boys were growing up, and also was a pitch counter for GHSA in 2017-18. His two brothers, Joey and Jake, grew up playing the game (Joey- Fayette County High class of '13, Jake Whitewater- High class of '18), and both umpire as well. Coach Weller is engaged to his fiancee, Bailey, and they will be wed next spring. However, this spring is all about Indian baseball. Go Indians!
