Matt East enters his first year as Assistant Athletic Director at East Coweta High School, bringing with him 24 years of experience in education. Of those, 18 have been dedicated to serving Coweta County, including 4 years as an Assistant Principal at the elementary level. Matt was named East Coweta High School’s Teacher of the Year in 2016.

 

A graduate of LaGrange College, Matt holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. While at Lagrange College Matt was awarded as Research Scholar his senior year. 

 

In addition to his work in the classroom Matt has a 24-year coaching career. He has coached both baseball and softball at Spalding High School in Griffin and here at East Coweta High School, and also spent three seasons coaching collegiate baseball at LaGrange College.  He currently serves as President of the Georgia Dugout Club.

 

Matt is married to Melissa, a first-grade teacher at Newnan Crossing Elementary School. Together, they are the proud parents of two children, Robert (15) and Emily (12).
